I am the newest member of the mindfulness team and with Katherine’s encouragement I am writing my first post here on the blog.
My name is Sandra and I am wife to Dave and a mother to five children aged between 31 and 8. I have lived with a chronic illness for 25 years which although challenging and frustrating has changed me deeply. My faith journey has grown as a result of this suffering and I never thought I would say this, but I am grateful for those growing experiences.
I am not the only person in my family affected by ill-health and disability and we do our very best to work together as a team and look for God’s grace in the ordinary. Dave my husband expresses his gratitude vocally throughout the day and I write a journal at the day’s end.
In addition to our vocation as parents both my husband and I home school our two youngest children and September 2017 will mark our eighth anniversary. Living in close proximity has its challenges but there are joys along the way. It has been such a blessing to observe our children develop their own interests and support their individual learning styles.
The home school community is as widespread as it is diverse and through the internet we have made contact with folks from all across the globe. In the autumn of 2009 I began writing our home school and family journal http://multicolouredmadness.blogspot.com
In my spare time I knit, sew and love to read. I am a life long learner and enjoy writing with a purpose, some of my thoughts I have shared with friends at prayer group, including Katherine.
I met Robin only once but he was a true ” gentle-man” and his book “The Virgin Eye” is a goldmine of wisdom and guidance for those on a spiritual journey.
As I settle in to my role associated with this website, I hope that my words here will be a source of encouragement to you the reader as we travel along the pilgrim road.
